Project Description

MAXXI

The MAXXI, the national museum of contemporary art of the XXIst century, was conceived by the architect Zaha Hadid.

It is a centre of excellence for contemporary art, a space which also offers itself as a pole of innovation and experimentation. Its purpose is to promote and develop a sense of community between artistic traditions of the past and the aesthetic tensions of our time.

It is a multidisciplinary centre where you can explore the borders and intersections of architecture and other creative performances.

The place has an international feel, which allows Italian talent to be made known abroad, assimilating, at the same time, new creative incentives from any part of the world.

It has had different international acknowledgements: the jury of the World Architecture Festival of Barcelona declared the MAXXI the “Best Edifice of 2010” and also won the “Stirling Prize”, awarded by the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).
