Project Description
The Fiumicino Airport train station is located inside the actual airport complex and you will find it on the second floor in Terminal 3.
You have three possibilities to reach the city:
The Leonardo Express is a non-stop service between the airport and Roma Termini (the main railway station);
The FL1 is a suburban train, which stops in many stations except Roma Termini;
Frecciarossa, which connects the airport to Venice with stops in Rome.
> The Leonardo express is a service that takes you directly to Roma Termini. The trip takes about 30 minutes.
The trains leave every 30 minutes from the Roma Termini train station, platform 24 (it may change, in which case you will be advised by the informative displays).
First departure from Rome Termini 5:35 and last departure at 22:35, first departure from Fiumicino Airport 6:23 and last at 23:23. The Leonardo Express is guaranteed even in the event of a strike.
The cost of the ticket is € 14.00 and it covers only one way.
You can buy it online at this price on the Trenitalia web site or at the self-service emitting machines.
The ticket must be validated before getting on the train.
> FL1 (Fiumicino – Roma – Fara Sabina – Orte) leaves every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on public holidays.
It stops at many train stations, some of which are in Rome, and the main ones are: Tiburtina, Ostiense and Trastevere. It does not stop at Roma Termini.
Underground line B stops at both Tiburtina and Ostiense (Piramide station), whereas you can catch Tram # 8 from Trastevere station which will take you to Piazza Venezia. Tram # 8’s stop at “Arenula/Cairoli” is useful for whoever needs to reach the areas of Campo de Fiori, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, because they are close by.
The price of the one way ticket to arrive or depart at train stations in Rome is € 8.00 if bought online on the Trenitalia web site or from the self-service emitting machines.
The ticket must be validated before getting on the train.
> The Frecciarossa connects the Roma Fiumicino airport to Venice (in 4h and 12’) and it stops in Florence (2h 14’), Bologna (2h 59’) and Padua (3h 57’).
It also stops in Roma Termini and Roma Tiburtina and the ticket costs € 17.00.
The trains will depart from the Fiumicino Airport train station at 11:08 and 15:08.
The Trenitalia ticket office is located on the right side of the Fiumicino train station, whereas the office called “Freccia Viaggi” on the left is a travel agency.
If you buy your ticket online, you must always print it before your trip and you must keep it in order to go through the turnstiles at the Fiumicino Airport train station.
Children under the age of 4 travel free, kids from 4 to 12 years old (excluded) travel free if they each have an adult to accompany them, and small animals in cages and big animals travelling in the vestibule of the first carriage travel free too. There are no limits to the size of your luggage.
