The Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel are in the Vatican City State. They were created throughout the centuries by all the different Popes and today have one of the biggest art collections in the world.

The Vatican Museums are both museums and collections; an example is the Pinacoteca (the Art Gallery) where there are paintings of artists such as Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Caravaggio. The modern religious Collection includes works by artists such as Francis Bacon, Carlo Carrà, Marc Chagall, Salvador Dalì, Giorgio de Chirico, Felice Mina, Paul Gaugin, Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse and Vincent van Gogh; it also conserves antique and Renaissance masterpieces and Greek and Roman sculptures; the Carriage Pavilion and areas such as the Galleries, the Chapels and the Rooms.

The Sistine Chapel, famous all over the world for being the place where the conclave and many other official papal ceremonies take place, is also renowned for the frescos painted by Michelangelo. You can also visit the Raphael Rooms, which are just a few of the beauties that can be admired during the visit.
