Project Description

Piazza Farnese

Piazza Farnese is dominated by the imposing Farnese Palace, which has been the French Embassy since 1874. The building, which is a work by Sangallo and Michelangelo, is considered to be the most beautiful Renaissance palace in Rome.

At the sides of the square there are two huge baths made of Egyptian granite, which come from the Caracalla Baths, and form the base for the fountains, decorated with the Farnese family lily.

Connected to the piazza you can find the convent and church of Santa Brigida (the patron saint of Sweden), which were erected on the spot where the saint died in 1373.
