Project Description
Museum of the Roman Republic and Garibaldi Memorial
Historic documents, works of art, multimedia displays and teaching tools are used to tell the story and describe the locations and people involved in the Roman Republic, the brief but important episode that took place in 1849 on the Janiculum Hill, close to Porta San Pancrazio, where the monument of that name is located.
Busts, paintings, engravings and mementoes of Garibaldi, as well as models and a number of multimedia tools, guide the visitor on a tour of discovery around the place, dates and main protagonists of events during those years of great political upheaval.
The building also houses the Garibaldi veterans association, Associazione Nazionale Veterani e Reduci Garibaldini (ANVRG), Rome’s Modern and Contemporary History Library, and the Janiculum Committee.
