Project Description
Colosseum
The visit to the Colosseum is a unique experience and for 2,000 years, this arena represented the symbol of power as it was built to celebrate the glory of the Roman Empire.
It could contain approximately from 50,000 to 80,000 people and it was used for gladiator fights and other public demonstrations (such as shows on hunting, commemorations of famous battles and tragedies based on classical mythology).
Like the rest of the historical city centre, the Colosseum is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In 2007, the complex was also inserted among the new Seven Wonders of the World, as a result of a contest organized by the New Open World Corporation (NOWC).
It is advisable to buy your tickets online in order to avoid long queues, or, for the possessors of a smartphone that has access to internet, you can use the Mobile Ticketing method that permits you to buy an electronic ticket.
