Project Description

The Hendrik Christian Andersen museum

Hendrik Christian Andersen was an American sculptor, painter and urbanist of Norwegian origin. He left his collection of statues and his home-studio in Flaminio to the Italian government.

The site includes a deposit-basement; the ground floor has two atelier-living rooms where the artist’s sculptures are exhibited, and on the first floor, there is a terrace with two other floors dedicated to everyday life.

Andersen’s sculptures, paintings and manuscripts show that he had a great passion for grand and monumental masterpieces and that he was inspired by classical art, which he thought made the observer wish to improve himself.
