Project Description
National Museum of Castel Sant’Angelo
The museum is located inside Castel Sant’Angelo, the mausoleum built by Emperor Hadrian. Construction started in 125 A.D. and was then radically modified many times during Medieval and Renaissance times.
You can find collections of weapons, paintings, sculptures and mementoes of the history of the castle in the museum.
You can visit all the various zones, from the prison cells to the Popes’ apartments to the different richly decorated rooms, created by some of the greatest artists of the past.
The museum has catalysed the interest of millions of visitors who crowd its spaces every year to visit its exclusive halls, admire the precious art collections and artefacts, and enjoy the many exhibitions and temporary displays which take place inside the Castle all year round.
