Project Description
For citizens of the countries which have agreed to the Schengen Treaty, it is sufficient to have an ID card or a valid passport.
For others, you must show your passport at customs and, if necessary, an entry visa which shows the duration of your stay and your destination. Your visa must be requested at an Italian consulate in your country of residence, specifying the motive of the trip.
Once you have arrived at your destination, if you are not staying in a tourist accommodation facility, you must register at the Police Station within 8 days from the date of arrival. For those who are staying in a hotel, or in another tourist facility, registration is done automatically at the reception.
For further information you can have a look at the Visa section on the website of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
